In today’s world, society is becoming increasingly intolerant. It is becoming easier and easier to be a bigot and reject those who live differently than we do. We are taught that we must be intolerant of others and that we must accept only the things that we agree with. We must reject and disrespect those who disagree with us and we must not care about what they think about us.

But why? Why do we have to abandon our humanity in order for “the good of the group”? The true extremists in our society are not the people who discriminate against everyone, but the people who would give up their humanity so that they do not have to deal with anyone different than them. These people end up hating themselves and their country because of their intolerance, and by rejecting others they condemn themselves to a life filled with regret and loneliness.
